Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York reported late Sunday she has tested positive for COVID-19, placing her on the growing roster of congressional lawmakers who’ve been infected.

“She is experiencing symptoms and recovering at home,” her office said.

The office said Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat and high-profile progressive, got her booster shot this fall and encourages others to do the same as Washington, New York and other places reel from a coronavirus wave fueled by the omicron variant.

More than 100 members of Congress have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began, according to GovTrack.

Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio reported last week he has tested positive, delaying his return to Washington after the holidays. The Republican said he was feeling fine after getting vaccinated and boosted.
