Cornerback Benjamin St-Juste believes the Washington Commanders need a “fresh start.”

The second-year defensive back made the comment in an interview with French-Canadian newspaper Le Journal de Québec — potentially in reference to Dan Snyder selling the franchise.

The quote from St-Juste, a Montreal native, has been translated via Google Translate and was first shared on social media by 106.7 The Fan.

“Since I arrived here, it’s been a dark cloud over our organization,” St-Juste said. “Every time there is something good happening on the pitch, something bad is happening off it. It would give us great energy to have a fresh start and regain the confidence of the fans.”

Amid multiple scandals, Snyder announced last week that he is considering “potential transactions” of the franchise that he purchased for $800 million in 1999.

St-Juste, Washington’s third-round pick in the 2021 draft, has emerged as a key part of the Commanders’ improved defense. He recorded a sack in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings. While he had his challenges covering superstar wideout Justin Jefferson, Rivera was impressed with his effort, saying that St-Juste “fought and battled his butt off.”
