In 1944, after the failed assassination attempt known as Valkyrie, Hitler proclaimed to the German people that his survival proved that Providence was on his side, and he would carry on in his mission. He was wrong. In a similar manner, the day after the midterms, when a reporter asked what he planned to do differently, President Biden replied he will do nothing differently. The midterm results, he said, show that the American people understand his policies are working. Wrong.

About the only thing the results prove is that we are a divided people.

Whether the midterm results were due to ballot tampering, historically attributed to the Democratic Party, or whether it was due to 63% of young people voting liberal because they bought into Mr. Biden’s free ride on education, one thing is clear: Mr. Biden is not the unifier of the American people as he indicated he would be when he first came to office. Nor can he be.

We are a people with irreconcilable differences. In no way can those of us who realize abortion is murder be reconciled to those who would abort a baby even in the third trimester. In no way can those of us who know that God made them either male and female be reconciled to those who would mutilate children going through gender identity crises.

President Ronald Reagan once said, “Protecting the rights of even the least individual among us is basically the only excuse the government has for even existing.” If ever we needed a leader to understand this, it is now.
