Recently Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted that if the Justice Department indicted former President Donald Trump, there would be “riots in the streets” (“Sen. Lindsey Graham predicts ‘riots’ if Trump is prosecuted,” Web, Aug. 29).

The senator’s remarks triggered the intellectually challenged mainstream media and Capitol Hill Democrats to spiral at warp speed into a hissy fit rarely see before in the annals of Western civilization. My sense of what might transpire under those circumstances is somewhat different than Mr. Graham’s.

I tend to think that such a move by the obviously corrupt Biden Justice Department would set off a campaign of massive
“civil disobedience” on the part of the tens of millions of U.S. citizens who are convinced that the Justice Department and the FBI
are intent on carrying out an illegal witch hunt against former President Trump and his MAGA supporters.

This civil disobedience, however, would not look anything like the violent and destructive antifa and Black Lives Matter riots that caused billions of dollars in property damage and great loss of life throughout the summer of 2020. Those, of course, were deemed “mostly peaceful” by the same mainstream media and leftist politicians.

Rather, MAGA supporters would model their demonstrations on the civil rights protests led by Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s, which led to the landmark legislation of that era, and on the nonviolent demonstrations led by Mahatma Gandhi in his successful campaign for Indian independence in the 1940s.

That’s the difference between the actions of Marxist-inspired, anti-American rioters and Constitution-minded, pro-American, MAGA patriots.
