Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been the Biden administration’s go-to guy for years, the urgent-care specialist who stops the bleeding when a hemorrhage of truth augurs to obstruct political success for the president. You might call him President Biden’s Rasputin.

Mr. Blinken’s most spectacular success to date was acknowledged when it was recently revealed that he had brokered a deal with former CIA Deputy Director Mike Morrell to cover up the Hunter Biden laptop story (“Senators want Blinken data on links with Hunter Biden; letter accuses secretary of lying to Congress,” web, May 2).

How? by rounding up 51 former intelligence “experts” who misinformed the American people about the laptop’s provenance — all to get Mr. Biden elected president.

With these labors and his efforts to conceal details of the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, Mr. Blinken has surely earned his corner office in Foggy Bottom. He is a clever verbal conjuror, a facile dialectician who tries to deflect rather than reveal the truth.
