In “Youngkin brings back freedom of choice for Virginia car buyers” (web, June 7), the author rightfully commends Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares for ending Virginia’s participation in California’s zero-emissions vehicle mandate. Mr. Youngkin and Mr. Miyares’ decision is a move that aligns with public sentiment, as evidenced by 64% of Virginians opposing the California mandates.
Policymakers should follow a simple mantra: Consumers should have the freedom to make their own decisions without the government acting as a backseat driver.
Recognizing that no single vehicle type suits every individual’s needs or budget, why not let natural market dynamics, not government mandates, drive choices?
Their decision is a win for Americans having options in their purchasing decisions, marking a significant victory for consumers that should be applauded.
