A new era of Wizards basketball is on the horizon. The team, led by No. 1 pick A.J. Dybantsa, opens the regular season with a home matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 21.
Washington continued its yearlong rebuild over the offseason by drafting Dybantsa, extending guard Trae Young and holding onto All-Star forward Anthony Davis.
The rest of the league has taken notice. The Wizards will feature in six nationally televised primetime games this season. Washington had appeared in just five of those games over the previous five years.
The national TV slate begins when the Wizards visit the Detroit Pistons on Nov. 9 on Peacock. The team will then host the Boston Celtics on Nov. 24 as part of the league’s in-season NBA Cup on NBC. Washington will visit Boston on Dec. 16 for a game on ESPN.
The Wizards feature in three more national games: a Jan. 12 showdown with the Philadelphia 76ers on NBC, a Feb. 27 date in Utah against the Jazz on Prime Video and a March 1 game in Phoenix against the Suns that will air on Peacock.
Washington’s schedule features an 11-day homestand with five games at Capital One Arena from Jan. 1-11. The longest road stretch arrives after the late February All-Star Break, with five consecutive games out west from Feb. 25 through March 4.
