OPINION:
The B.C. “comic” in the Aug. 13 Washington Times depicting Anteater reveling in his feast of music festival attendees was repugnant.
With my first glance at the strip, I saw an immediately obvious, overt parallel with Hamas’ murderous Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Nova music festival in Israel. I’m certain many other readers did as well; the impression required no strained, convoluted interpretation. It slapped one in the face instantly and could not have been more vivid.
This instance of poor creative judgment may have been mindlessly inadvertent, but the strip nevertheless was probably hurtful to many who perceived it as trivializing the massacre.
The creator of the comic strip and the Washington Times should have been more alert to the dictates of good taste and decency.
