Comedian Rosie O’Donnell took aim at President Trump in her opening monologue during her debut guest-hosting gig on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday.

Ms. O’Donnell received a round of applause and chants of her name as she opened the late-night talk show, saying, “If you thought the president hated ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel? Buckle up, people! Buckle up.”

At one point, smiling into the camera, she addressed Mr. Trump directly: “Hi, I know you’re watching.”

Ms. O’Donnell, a longtime liberal activist, joked that she has been living in Ireland for the past two years because of Mr. Trump, or as she called him, “Mango Mussolini.”

Ms. O’Donnell is filling in for Mr. Kimmel, who picked her as one of several guest hosts during his two-month summer break.

Ms. O’Donnell and Mr. Trump have feuded for nearly two decades, dating back to jabs the two exchanged over the years with Mr. Trump calling her “a threat to humanity.”
