Pop singer Ariana Grande criticized President Trump on Thursday after his administration used her 2024 song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” in a TikTok video promoting anti-transgender views.
Deadline confirmed that Ms. Grande’s label is working to remove the song from the clip.
The clip showed Mr. Trump walking onto a stage at a rally. Captions referenced a line from the song “Me and my truth we sit in silence…” before pivoting to a message stating, “Men can’t have babies and should never compete in sports.”
Ms. Grande wrote in the comments of the video, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”
Her comment comes after she called out the White House in June for using her song “Bye” in a video promoting ICE.
She joins a lengthy list of musicians, including Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and the Rolling Stones, who have objected to Trumpworld using their music.
Ms. Grande, a three-time Grammy winner, is currently winding down her Eternal Sunshine Tour.
