Katie Wilson rode a socialist wave of promises to provide free stuff all the way to the Seattle mayoral office in 2025 — and now, a year later, she’s fending off a recall effort. Yay; go Team America.

What’s more interesting are the poll numbers that show her fall from grace with her own merry band of like-minded socialists.

There’s a trend that should be replicated throughout America’s political system. Boot all the socialists. They’re bad for the country.

“Recall petition against Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson moves to King County,” KINGS.com wrote.

“Could Seattle’s mayor be recalled? Here’s how the process works,” USA Today wrote.

A petition for recall was filed against Wilson by two Seattle residents who accused her of neglecting to uphold public safety provisions and policies — such as when she fired the police chief, Shon Barnes; such as when the firing came on the heels of a shooting at Seattle Center. Specifically, the petition charges she’s been “derelict in her duties for public safety.” What’s needed to get the petition going is a signature count that hits 69,200, representing 25 percent of the voters who cast ballots in the 2025 election. Once that many names are collected, the recall question can be put to voters.

“So that is a legal process that will be playing out,” Wilson said, when asked at a press conference to respond to the recall effort. “I’m focused on leading the city and on making it an affordable place for people to live, and that’s the work that we’re here to discuss today.”

Very well.

Very good.

But nobody will want to live in a city that isn’t kept safe for legal and law-abiding citizens — making the whole matter of affordability moot; making the whole issue of firing the person in charge of protecting citizens from crime an even larger concern.

Even Wilson’s fan base wants to know what’s happening.

“Seattle Mayor Wilson sees 20 percent drop in approval rating,” The Everett Post wrote.

That’s significant in itself, given the time frame for Wilson’s drop in approval is about four months.

“Mayor Wilson currently has a 37 percent favorable rating, while 62 percent of voters view her unfavorably, including 42 percent who hold a strongly unfavorable view,” the Seattle Metro Chamber wrote. “These findings represent a sharp shift since April, with her favorable rating declining 20 percent and her unfavorable rating rising 35 percent,”

Sharp shift is right.

What’s more significant, though, is this: “The decline extends across her political base, with favorability falling 17 points among self-identified progressives and 22 points among self-identified liberal Democrats.”

The poll of 500 Seattle voters conducted between Aug. 10 and Aug. 13 has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 4.4 percentage points, making it more suspect on the accuracy front than more standard surveys.

Yet: 17 points among “progressives” — code for socialists — and 22 points among “Democrats” — code for socialists who deny they’re socialists — are stunning numbers.

It’d be great if the socialist experiment that’s been sweeping left-leaning cities and counties and districts across America is nearing its end.

Socialism is not sustainable. In this economic system, the government is not a creator or producer, but rather relies on the creative production of individuals who will not serve forever as slaves to redistribution-happy politicians. On top of that, socialism is essentially one and the same as communism and Marxism — it’s all collectivism; it’s all in stark opposition to individualism; it’s all anti-American.

The fact that, one year into Wilson’s socialist mayoral leadership, her core voters are already regretting their decision is encouraging for all of America. Let her socialist drivel go down in flames and let that failure spread rapidly to other jurisdictions experimenting with the same unconstitutional politics. First Seattle; next up, New York City.
