Trump to travel to Ireland for the Irish Open at his golf course

President Trump will travel to Ireland next month to attend a golf tournament at one of his properties, the White House announced on Monday.

Mr. Trump will attend the Irish Open at his golf course in Doonbeg. He will be in Ireland on Sept. 12 and 13, the final two days of his tournament.

Before the tournament, Mr. Trump will join an event with U.S. Embassy workers and business officials, The Associated Press reported.

The Irish Open will take place at Trump International Golf Links Ireland, located in County Clare on Ireland’s Atlantic Coast. The five-star hotel and golf course spans 400 acres along a 1.5-mile beach and was designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman.

In July, Mr. Trump said he might make the trip, calling the golf course “one of the best, most beautiful” in the world.

Golfer Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland is expected to defend his title in the Irish Open. He is also the reigning Masters champion, with back-to-back wins in 2025 and 2026.

Mr. McIlroy, one of the president’s favorite golfers, attended a state dinner honoring King Charles III at the White House in May.

An avid golfer, Mr. Trump has attended several golf tournaments during his second term. In May, he attended the final round of the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship at his Doral, Florida, country club.

In September 2025, he also watched the second day of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York.

All told, Mr. Trump owns eight golf clubs — including five in the U.S. and two in Scotland, which generated a combined $252.5 million in revenue last year, according to Mr. Trump’s financial disclosure.
