Top Trump administration officials confirmed that President Trump faces active and ongoing threats to his life from Iranian operatives within the U.S.

“Well, I won’t get into specific intelligence, but this regime, going all the way up to the Ayatollah, has plotted to kill President Trump for many years,” U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

“They have operatives here in the United States. Plots are ongoing. But our intelligence community, the FBI, our law enforcement entities are absolutely on top of it.”

He added, “But make no mistake: that the Iranian regime is trying to kill President Trump and those around him. It is absolutely — and it’s just unacceptable on so many levels.”

Mr. Waltz also said that the lives of the members of Mr. Trump’s first-term Cabinet involved in the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani are also targets of the regime.

U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker referenced on CNN’s “State of the Union” that a man with ties to the IRGC — Pakistani national Asif Merchant — was convicted in March on terrorism and murder-for-hire charges for his role in a 2024 plot to assassinate Trump.

Mr. Trump issued a warning last week to Iran in a Truth Social post saying, “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!”
