Iran’s military on Wednesday continued its attacks against regional U.S. military targets, with Bahrain and Jordan both reporting new strikes from Iranian drones and missiles.
The Bahrain Defense Force said in a statement that its air defense system successfully intercepted a barrage of Iranian drones and missiles targeting civilian sites early Wednesday.
Iran has previously launched strikes against U.S. military targets in Bahrain, including the Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama.
Bahrain’s military reported no casualties but warned citizens to avoid approaching debris from intercepted missiles and drones.
Iran’s military separately confirmed Wednesday that its forces targeted U.S. military installations in Jordan.
According to Iranian state-controlled news outlets, Tehran’s forces launched a wave of “suicide drone strikes” against the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, a key installation used by the U.S. for F-18 operations.
Jordan’s military had announced overnight that its air defenses had successfully intercepted three ballistic missiles from Iran, resulting in no deaths, injuries or material damage.
The strikes come as the U.S. and Iran move closer to open war following the complete collapse of the ceasefire agreement earlier this month.
U.S. Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, launched new rounds of attacks on Iran Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, marking an increase in the pace of attacks coming from Washington.
