Boston police said Saturday they found a body inside a home owned by Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s husband.
Authorities said they arrived at the residence in Mattapan around 1:50 p.m. Saturday after they were called to “investigate a person.”
Police didn’t share any information about the victim or the cause of death. The homicide unit is leading the investigation.
City records show the house is owned by Ms. Pressley’s husband, Conan Harris.
The couple does not live at the home, which is a rental property they purchased in 2021. The house has been on the market for the past month, and the sellers are looking to get $1.15 million.
“The Congresswoman extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family,” a spokesperson for Ms. Pressley, Massachusetts Democrat, said in a statement.
Real estate agents told the Boston Globe that the tenants at the residence had been there some time.
The Globe also reported that the two-story, seven-bedroom home was raided two months ago, but it’s unclear if any criminal charges emerged from the incident.
Ms. Pressley first took office in 2018 as part of a blue wave during President Trump’s first term.
She is a member of the “Squad,” a quartet of left-wing House members that includes New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Michigan’s Rashida Tlaib and Minnesota’s Ilhan Omar.
Ms. Pressley and Mr. Harris married in 2014. Mr. Harris previously spent 10 years behind bars on a drug trafficking conviction.
