OPINION:
The Declaration of Independence states that men are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
These are the elements that serve as the basis for our Constitution. Yet many people seem unaware of their importance.
Other governments in other countries don’t have these rights, which is why they do not want us to continue with our form of government.
People around the world have immigrated to the United States for the rights we have here. My ancestors came from Germany and France and settled in Iowa, Ohio and California in the 1850s.
Thomas Jefferson’s words are just as applicable now as they were when he wrote them. We must maintain our present form of government.
