OPINION:
Since our founding, the United States of America has been the freest, most prosperous, generous and righteous nation on the planet. But is now facing some of the most perilous times since our inception.
Instead of embracing and trying to build on our successes, the Democrats are seeking to dismantle and replace our great republic with a godless, socialist, secular system that has never been successful and has created nothing but poverty, misery and oppression wherever it has been tried.
Fortunately, in a time when far too many are blindly accepting the left’s lies, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is seeking to stop the drift away from conservative values and scripturally based doctrine. As reported in the Washington Times last month, the SBC elected Florida pastor Willy Rice to lead the largest protestant denomination in the nation.
Mr. Rice is committed to eliminating the liberal drift and apostasy that has plagued far too many churches and Christian denominations.
In his SBC convention sermon and several recent interviews, Mr. Rice said staying true to Scripture and doctrine is his highest priority. He emphasized that King Saul’s focus on his mission instead of obedience to the Lord led to his demise.
Ironically, the same mission-first attitude was causing some SBC leaders to question whether their doctrine was a turnoff to cultural Christians and non-believers, and this was having a negative impact on the mission. The SBC and others must understand that there are only two real choices: Embrace Scripture and Jesus Christ or embrace the secular culture and spirit of the antichrist.
All Christians should understand as Mr. Rice does, that compromising on Scripture and doctrine to pacify the secular culture is capitulation, a losing proposition and acceptance and endorsement of evil. Paul clearly writes in Ephesians 5:11; “Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, instead, expose them” and this certainty applies to the far-left political entities trying to take over our nation.
Christians across the country should understand their options, and in coming elections, vote for the ideology that most closely aligns with Scripture and the will of the Lord.
