OPINION:
Democratic Socialists of America-supported candidates may be winning a bunch of primaries in elections from New York to Colorado, and places in between. But Democrats say if they can’t can the crazy for the time being — until such time as they score major upsets and oust many Republicans, that is — then the whole leftist design to destroy the Constitution, destroy American Exceptionalism and destroy the nation of Israel and its people will, whisk, like a puff of smoke, disappear.
They don’t use those words, of course.
They instead say things like this — from Democrat strategist Steve Schale, on the heels of a widely watched, widely panned interview on Fox News where the DSA co-chair, Megan Romer, admitted her group’s plan was to abolish the Senate and, oh yes, all prisons, too: “You now have to argue to voters that you aren’t insane when you want to talk about making groceries cheaper,” he said, The Hill noted.
His was an expression of frustration about the DSA’s failure to recognize the pragmatic aspects of politics — that telling the truth too soon, too loudly and before too large an audience never works in the favor of Democrats.
Think Kamala Harris.
From The Hill: “Democrats say [Romer’s] interview could not have come at a worse time. They fear Republicans will seize on Romer’s comments in campaign ads, much as President Trump’s 2024 campaign repeatedly highlighted then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ past support for taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries for prisoners.”
Harris — in Democrat strategist thinking — ought to have kept the crazy quiet until she won the election, after which she could have unleashed all the transgender-surgery-for-prisoners funding she wanted, because as the logic of the left goes: what are you gonna do about it then?
Harris erred in being honest.
Romer, representing the DSA, is making the same mistake.
This is how Democrats think.
The DSA and its radical goals for America don’t worry Democrats so much as the fact DSA members are saying them out loud, and potentially ruining the chances for all the socialists and communists and Marxists who’ve quietly infiltrated the Democrat Party to a) win their own elections and b) push forward the socialist, communist, Marxist agenda secretly.
“It’s all just off message,” Schale said, The Hill reported.
And more of his frustration went like this: Now Democrats facing competitive opposition for their seats will have to deal with questions about abolishing the Senate, and abolishing prisons, and all the other crazy the DSA is openly advocating.
Now Democrats in competitive districts will have to spend money on ads and public messaging to refute the DSA designs of replacing “the presidency and the Supreme Court as we now know them,” as Fox News host Shannon Bream posed it to Romer.
Now Democrats in competitive races for political seats will have to deal with pesky questions from the press and concerned citizens about the DSA plan to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement — at the same time abolishing prisons. And the Pentagon.
Republicans have the golden key to this November’s midterms. It’s DSA.
The more this un-American, anti-American organization speaks its truth, the more the eyes of Americans will be opened to their destructive goals. Smart Republicans seeking reelection and election can simply play back the words of DSA members and the Democrats they support and let the American people see and hear for themselves what the Dems now represent. Sometimes, sitting back and doing nothing is the surest way to a win.
