President Trump trashed the Biden administration’s open border policy, saying the flood of illegal immigrants caused car insurance premiums to rise.
“Under the disastrous Open Border Policy of Crooked Joe Biden and his traitorous DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, TENS OF MILLIONS of criminals, including over 13,000 STONE-COLD MURDERERS, poured into our Country from Prisons and Jails, from Mental Institutions and Insane Asylums,” Mr. Trump said Monday on Truth Social.
“Needless to say, they were NOT always the safest drivers! Car Insurance Premiums rose to RECORD HIGHS, forcing Law-abiding American Citizens to subsidize the ‘free riding’ Biden Illegals.”
He said that after over a year of “zero illegal immigration” and his “highly successful efforts to REVERSE the Biden Invasion, Car Insurance Premiums have come tumbling down.”
In a subsequent post, Mr. Trump wrote, “Sadly, if you import people from Third World Countries, you quickly become a Third World Country — And there’s not a thing you can do about it.”
A 2025 report from the Insurance Research Council said that one in three drivers (33.4%) were either uninsured or underinsured in 2023, a 10-point increase in the combined rate since 2017.
Several factors were associated with the increase, including the onset of the pandemic and state insurance laws and regulations.
According to Insurify, the current average cost of car insurance in the U.S. is $2,236 annually for full coverage and $1,177 annually for liability-only coverage.
The motor vehicle insurance Consumer Price Index dropped 1.7% last month after rising 0.1% in April.
National average premiums for full coverage in 2026 are expected to rise only 1–3% for the year, representing a “measured stabilization” after the 2022–2024 surge.
