New York City has a new cultural artifact: the “Tux Clutch Mini,” a bright orange handbag designed and carried by Jordyn Woods throughout the New York Knicks’ NBA playoff run.
The bag is now on display at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, tucked into a corner of the sunlit Cafe Rebay on the third floor of the iconic building. It is on display through June 28.
Ms. Woods, fiancee to Knicks superstar Karl-Anthony Towns, began carrying the bag early in the playoff run and carried it through the team’s championship-winning streak.
The $125 limited-edition clutch, featuring faux ostrich leather and an orange hue that Ms. Woods’ brand calls “Summer Citrus” — though most New Yorkers call it “Knicks Orange” — quickly became a favorite among Knicks fans.
The only playoff game the Knicks lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals was Game 3, the one night Woods was barred from bringing the bag into Madison Square Garden due to the arena’s strict no-bag policy because President Donald Trump was in attendance.
In an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Mr. Towns declared that the bag is “undoubtedly one of the greatest articles of clothing New York has ever seen.”
Those eager to own the bag will have to wait. The clutch is available for preorder through Ms. Woods’ brand but is not expected to ship until October, which is just in time for the Knicks’ opening tipoff of their title defense.
