OPINION:
Much ado is being made about the congressional testimony of a CIA whistleblower who says former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci not only knew the origin of COVID was a Chinese lab, but actively covered up that fact.
But where does this information lead? What good does it do?
Most of America already knew Fauci lied about COVID’s origins. Most of America was waiting for Fauci to face the consequences for his lies. But that deadline to indict has already passed. So bringing forth a whistleblower — even holding hearings about the lies of Fauci — seems like a fruitless activity at this point.
If bureaucrats and justice officials and political powerhouses had wanted to bring Fauci to account for his tyrannical and deceptive COVID years’ actions and statements, there was plenty of time to do so. It strikes as the height of political posturing to hold a hearing highlighting the deceptions of Fauci on May 13, when the nation was already in the know that the statute of limitations to indict him was May 11.
Two days too late.
Now Americans are expected to cheer their fearless political leaders for their fearless pursuit of truths and doggedly fearless determination to hail consequences on the wrongdoers?
Meh.
“James Erdman, a career CIA operations officer who spent much of the last year onboarding joint assignment for the Director of National Intelligence Director Initiates Group (DNI DIG), testified before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Wednesday [May 13], telling committee members Fauci ‘influenced the analytical process and findings by leveraging his position to ensure the [intelligence community] consulted with a conflicted list of curated subject matter experts, public health officials, and scientists,’” National Review reported.
“He further said the CIA and DNI analytic managers responsible for examining the origin of COVID ‘made decisions inconsistent with the conclusions of subject matter experts and analytical tradecraft, consistently favoring the theory of zoonosis or natural original,’” National Review went on.
Blah, blah, blather, dee, blather.
Erdman could’ve just said “Fauci lied,” and the meaning would have been the same.
So, too, the end result.
Two days too late to do anything.
The real deception with Fauci wasn’t just his skirting of the Wuhan lab claim. It was his months and months, turning into years and years, of obfuscation of truth about the dangers of COVID to the average citizen; about the efficacy of the shots; about the need, not need, to wear one face mask, two face masks, etc., etc., etc.; and about the entirely random pronouncements and guidance and best medical practices he and his merry band of medical bureaucrats would make daily, from the White House podium and through the press, that had the American citizen hopping and skipping on his order — all the while he would claim he wasn’t ordering, because he wasn’t a politician (but that if you didn’t listen to him, then people would die, people would die, grandma and grandpa would certainly die).
Fauci was the smiling face of dictatorial governance during COVID.
His big lie was that he claimed to be simply a medical professional — all the while knowing his words were being received and carried out as dictates.
That is why Americans wanted to see him brought to justice.
“Rand Paul vows to keep pressure on Fauci as statute of limitations on criminal referral expire[d],” Fox News wrote.
Why?
At this point, it’s a waste of tax dollars.
Accountability for Fauci — like so many in the political world shielded by their friends in office and the media — will have to wait until the afterlife. That’s a small solace for the millions he kept out of school, kept out of work, kept out of church, kept from parks and beaches and places of eating and entertaining, kept from gathering for family events, both joyful and sad. Oh, wait — he didn’t. He was just a medical professional. He wasn’t a politician. He didn’t issue policy.
His lies loom large, and while he may never face punishment in this lifetime, Americans can learn a big lesson from his bureaucratic service, in case of another COVID-like crisis: Do not trust the federal authorities on matters of health and individual welfare.
