Quarterback Lamar Jackson’s first game back in nearly a month was short-lived. The dual-threat signal-caller left the Baltimore Ravens game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after the first play.

The Ravens initially listed his return as questionable before ruling him out for the game before the end of the first quarter. Baltimore noted that the injury appeared to affect the thumb on his throwing hand.

Jackson appeared to injure his hand after tossing an incompletion on Baltimore’s first offensive play. Medical staff escorted him back to the locker room.

The two-time MVP missed the Ravens’ last three games with a high ankle sprain. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley started in his absence and took over for Baltimore in Buffalo.

But Huntley joined Jackson on the injured list midway through the second quarter. He injured his toe on a tackle earlier in the game. The Ravens called on their emergency third quarterback — undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano — to keep the offense afloat.

Fagnano completed two of his first four passes for 28 yards. The Ravens trailed 13-7 after the Connecticut product’s first drive as an NFL quarterback.
