Nicolas Cage says he is “currently homeless” after a sinkhole consumed part of his $10.5 million mansion in Malibu, California, in September.

The sinkhole created a deep hole where his driveway once was, Page Six reported. Mr. Cage, who purchased the home in 2024, was not home at the time of the incident on Sept. 8.

When asked Saturday by a fan at Los Angeles Comic Con about his Halloween plans, Mr. Cage said, “I’m currently a little bit homeless.”

“Something happened to my house in Malibu, so I’m just sort of living in hotels, so I don’t have normal trick-or-treaters I would like to enjoy tonight,” the Oscar-winning actor said.

Nonetheless, Mr. Cage, 62, said he planned to take his 4-year-old daughter trick-or-treating for the holiday.

The sinkhole forced Mr. Cage’s neighbors to evacuate their homes. The hole was believed to have formed due to a mix of heavy rain and erosion, according to Page Six.

The City of Malibu wrote on Sept. 9 that 31 properties in the area have been marked as unsafe after the incident.

“The collapse of a beachfront driveway extended into the roadway, blocking resident and emergency access,” the city said.
