Nino Mangione, the cousin of Luigi Mangione, won an election in Baltimore County on Tuesday.
Luigi Mangione is on trial in New York City and stands accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.
Nino Mangione is a Republican who won a tight contest for the Baltimore County Council, representing District 5, according to TMZ. He got 49% of the vote over his nearest competitor’s 45%.

He previously served on the Maryland House of Delegates from 2019 until this year.
On Sunday, Luigi Mangione’s legal team asked the New York state court to dismiss the case against him on double jeopardy grounds.
After Luigi Mangione’s story broke two years ago, Nino released a statement signed by “The Mangione Family” about his cousin: “Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news.”
