OPINION:
Republicans have lost control of the House and Senate — as history tells as predictable; as historically, the normal course of politics is that the midterms are usually won by the party not in power in the White House. But from Republican hand-wringers to leftist Trump haters, the word going forth now is that President Trump’s best days are behind him, MAGA is dead, the American Dream has ended, and well, Republicans better get on board the socialist train or else — as one Democrat has already threatened — “lawyer up” and prepare for the consequences of the crime of being conservative.
Cue laughter.
Cue Al Pacino as “Scarface” clip — “Say hello to my little friend” — while beckoning to a raised middle finger.

America’s spirit of MAGA and America First was not created by Trump. He was just the greatest defender of these principles and ideas that Americans already rooted in MAGA and America First visions have held for years — and years and years and decades of years.
The midterms didn’t erase that spirit. Neither did the midterms erase Trump from office.
The elections put Democrats in power in the House and Senate. That is all. And Trump has been fighting, and winning, against Democrats since day one. As a matter of fact, Trump has been fighting just as much against members of his own party as he has against Democrats — since day one. At least now his opposition will be in the open once again, rather than pretending to be an ally in public while going behind closed doors and doing nothing, zero, nada to prove the alliance is intact. Sen. John Thune, anyone?
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, or SAVE, Act that practically every voter in America wanted?
Yes. That Sen. Thune. That SAVE Act. Let’s not forget the failure of Congress to codify Trump’s border orders — the Republican-led House, the Republican-led Senate failures. And now it’s Republican Rep. Thomas Massie who’s planning on introducing a resolution to impeach Trump-supported Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
“My Hegseth impeachment resolution is a much gentler version of what’s coming when Dems control Congress,” Massie said on social media. “They’ll have hearings & trials.”
Nice.
Massie lost his primary to the Trump-backed Ed Gallrein. That was after fighting publicly with Trump over the Epstein files and other matters for months and months. The impeachment resolution is his last gasp at political relevance. Fine. Have the gasp. Trump took a bullet in the ear. The rasping petulance of an exiting politician is barely a blip on the scale of concern.
“Republicans blame Trump for midterm losses,” NewsNation wrote.
NewsNation goes on: “‘I think much of what we are seeing [from midterm results] is a reflection of Trump’s agenda, particularly our continued involvement in Iran, high gas prices, inflation and the lack of focus on issues affecting everyday Americans,’ a statewide Republican official told Scripps News” — an unnamed official, of course. If Trump were truly no longer a factor, then there would be no need for Republicans to maintain anonymity while speaking in critical terms about him publicly.
With Republican friends like these, who needs Democrat enemies?
And so it’s gone for Trump’s entire political life.
“I hate to say it, but America is over,” longtime Trump supporter Laura Loomer said on social media in the aftermath of the midterms. “The communists and jihadists are going to open our borders and replace our votes with votes from illegal aliens. … America 250 was a funeral. The American Dream is dead.”
Muslim Brotherhood-tied Abdul El-Sayed in the Senate is certainly a black mark on America’s political landscape. But characterizing the midterms as an end of the American Dream — meaning, the end of the MAGA movement, the end of American Exceptionalism, the end of liberty and individualism and all that’s to be cherished about this country — is to mischaracterize the American Dream. The American Dream does not come from the political world. It comes from the Creator; it comes from the spirit. It says that individuals are endowed with certain unalienable rights and freedoms that are granted by God at birth, and it also says that governments — the political world — are only in place to protect what has been granted by God to the individual at birth.
Trump has been the caretaker in the White House of American Exceptionalism; he has been the watcher at the gate to preserve and protect American Exceptionalism. But he’s not, nor has he ever been, the source of the American Dream.
That means just because the midterms didn’t go the way Republicans wanted doesn’t mean the American Dream dies and disappears.
“The GOP needs to move on from Trump,” The Washington Post wrote.
No. Nope. Not even close.
Republican politicians whose primary desire is to advance their own political ambitions may see the need to “move on from Trump.” But that’s because they’ve never been on board 100 percent with Trump in the first place. They’ve never been steadfast on the ideas of MAGA principles and America First policies. They see these midterms as their time to rally troops to their selfish causes and get rid of an idea — a spirit — that has been a thorn in their sides for a very long time. They see an opportunity to silence Trump, sideline Trump and get politics back to a time when citizens served their political masters and Democrat and Republican elites forged deals to benefit the parties, not the pesky people.
“How Trump is expected to handle being a lame-duck president,” CNN wrote.
Trump has never had scores of political allies — and in that respect, he’ll never be “lame-duck.” If the battle for America is now being waged by one side with Democrats, anti-Trump Republicans, the media, the global organizations, European fake allies, Islamic infiltrators, communist-socialist-Marxist forces and billionaire elites with hatred for Western ways, versus Trump and the spirit of America — smart money’s on the guy who doesn’t even take a salary to wage this war.
