New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said he missed playing time while dealing with a disorder of his nervous system.
“Recently, I experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalization for several days. … While the results of my comprehensive medical testing have come back positive and reassuring, the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable,” he said Friday on social media.
The running back added that he’s trying to recover, since the nervous-system problem affected his coordination, strength and other physical functions.

While Henderson is not officially on injured reserve, he was added to the Patriots’ injury report on Oct. 29. He has not practiced since then, according to ESPN, and he missed the team’s 24-19 road victory against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
“My wife and I are deeply grateful for family and loved ones, the New England Patriots organization, my agent, my medical team, teammates, and everyone who has offered prayers, encouragement, and support. We respectfully ask for continued prayers and privacy as we focus on my health and recovery,” Henderson said.
