Joan Vassos, the titular lead in the ABC reality dating show “The Golden Bachelorette,” and fiance Chock Chapple jointly announced their breakup Friday.

The pair, now both 63, got engaged at the end of the show’s first and so far only season in 2024. The relationship remained long-distance after the show; Ms. Vassos lives in Rockville and originally hails from Olney, while Mr. Chapple is from Wichita, Kansas.

In their joint statement on social media, the pair said, “We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story. … Sadly, our journey hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped and we have decided to end our engagement,” according to the Bachelor Nation website run by the producers of the various “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” shows.
