The Capitals are making changes on the blue line. Washington sent Matt Roy to injured reserve with a lower-body issue and assigned Rasmus Sandin to the long-term injured reserve as he recovers from an ACL tear suffered in April.

In a corresponding move, the Capitals recalled Justin Holl from the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

The 34-year-old Holl has appeared in three games with Hershey this season. He spent nine years on NHL rosters, recording 97 points across 405 career games with the St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Roy did not play Sunday as the Capitals fell 5-2 to the Seattle Kraken. The 31-year-old skated in a non-contact jersey ahead of Monday’s practice, but will be sidelined for at least the next seven days.

Sandin is expected to return to the roster later in the season, according to multiple reports.

Capitals coach Spencer Carbery also confirmed that center Pierre-Luc Dubois, who missed Sunday’s game with an illness, will not travel with the team for Tuesday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
