President Trump said Thursday the livestreamed execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan has been canceled.

Mr. Trump faced bipartisan criticism, and Vice President J.D. Vance said he wouldn’t watch it.

In a change of heart, the president said on social media that the former Army psychiatrist turned jihadist’s Dec. 3 death by firing squad will continue — only it will not be available for online viewing.

“I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device,” he said on Truth Social.

Mr. Hasan’s execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims in the Nov. 5, 2009, shooting at the Army post in central Texas, Mr. Trump said.

He was convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
