Authorities in Kansas said a female motorist drove through a soccer match in Wichita on Saturday, killing a boy and a man and injuring 11 others.
Wichita Police Capt. Aaron Moses said a 6-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man were killed by the motorist around 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stryker Sports Complex.
Police took the woman, 34, into custody, but have not identified her or noted charges she faces. Officials said two children were inside her truck when she drove onto the pitch.

“Today is a heartbreaking day for Wichita,” Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said. “Families came to Stryker Sports Complex to enjoy a Saturday afternoon watching their children play soccer. No one could have imagined the tragedy that would unfold.”
The 11 injured people are between 5 to 68 years old. Authorities said they suffered traumatic injuries but are expected to survive.
Witnesses told KSN-TV that they did not notice the truck barreling toward the crowd at first because a corner kick was happening on the opposite side of the pitch.
A man told the station that he helped open the female driver’s door and press the truck’s brake.
Officials said there was no further threat to the public. Capt. Moses said investigators are “still working to determine how this happened and why this happened.”
