The Kansas City Chiefs are still undefeated at 5-0, but it’s not all smooth sailing. Star defensive tackle Chris Jones got into a screaming match with defensive line coach Joe Cullen during Sunday’s 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

At that point in the second quarter, the Chiefs’ defense had yet to record a sack and held a slim 9-3 advantage. CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins reported the tiff between Cullen and Jones after Kansas City forced a punt.

“Frustrations boiling over down here for the Chiefs’ defense,” she said.

“[Cullen] and Chris have a great relationship,” said Trent Green, the former Chiefs quarterback who called the game for CBS. “[I don’t think] Chris liked the fact that he put his hand on his shoulder.”

Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowler, failed to record a sack during Kansas City’s first four games. The feud with Cullen may have sparked something. The 32-year-old reached the quarterback for the first time this season late in the third quarter, splitting a sack with rookie Peter Woods.

Cullen and Jones did not appear to have any major disagreements for the remainder of the game. The Chiefs return to action on Sunday night for a primetime matchup in Seattle against the defending champion Seahawks.
