Olivier Martinez, the ex-husband of actress Halle Berry, was granted a temporary restraining order on Thursday as he accused her of child abuse and asked for sole custody of their 12-year-old son, Maceo.

In court documents, Mr. Martinez accused Ms. Berry of physically and emotionally abusing the boy, according to People magazine and TMZ.

Mr. Martinez said that during a Sept. 26 incident, Ms. Berry put her hands around the boy’s neck and choked him, and that other instances of abuse occurred over the past several years.

Ms. Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, called the filing “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading” in a statement to Fox News Digital. Ms. Beck said Mr. Martinez has violated court orders and has already been sanctioned.

The former couple was also ordered into confidential custody mediation.

Ms. Berry and Mr. Martinez separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2023.

Ms. Berry is an Academy Award-winning actress known for “Monster’s Ball” and for playing “Storm” in the “X-Men” film series.
