A football player from Jefferson High School tackled a Grant High School opponent who was carrying a U.S. flag during an opening ceremony for a football game Friday in Portland, Oregon.

The Jefferson player was ejected following the incident, according to the Oregon School Activities Association.

Portland Public Schools and the OSAA responded to the incident, with the latter writing on Monday, “Rivalry game or not, there’s no place for this behavior before, during or after a game.”
