Former Disney child star Erik von Detten is accused of elder abuse and fraud in California.

Mr. von Detten, a broker for the precious metal asset management firm Rosland Capital, is being sued along with his company by Norman Greenberg, 97, and his wife, Sheila, 85, of La Jolla.

Their lawsuit, filed May 11 in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges elder abuse, fraud, constructive fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and conversion.

The couple claims that between October 2020 and August 2021 they bought from Mr. Detten more than $2.1 million in gold coins that were worth only $1.3 million.

The Greenbergs are seeking a jury trial, at least $900,000 in actual damages and punitive damages.

In a statement to E! News, Rosland Capital said it “cannot comment directly on the lawsuit” and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July.

Mr. von Detten, 44, has not publicly addressed the suit, and a case management conference is set for Nov. 9 in Santa Monica.

Mr. von Detten is best known for his roles in “The Princess Diaries” in 2001 and “Toy Story 3” in 2010.

He most recently appeared in the 2024 TV movie “My Acting Coach Nightmare.”
