Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank is pushing back on criticism of her decision to give birth at the age of 52.
In a recent appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Ms. Swank said that women face backlash for having children later in life but men don’t.
Critics on social media disparaged her decision, with some calling it “selfish,” and pressed her to her fertility treatments.

On the talk show, Ms. Swank said that she is “very excited” and that the time is right for her give birth.
“This was the right time for me, although, you know, not everything happens in our own time,” she said, according to UPI. “We have ideas of timelines for ourselves and getting pregnant isn’t always in our own timeline.”
“It was a good time for me because I feel like I had this career that was a baby of mine, that I wanted to really give to and devote my time to, and not share,” she added. “Now, I can totally devote to my children.”
Ms. Swank has said previously that she froze her eggs at age 37 and had twins at 48.
She won the Academy Award for best actress for her performance in 1999’s “Boys Don’t Cry” and in 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby.”
