The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott this week after he left the team facility to grab a gun from his car, according to multiple reports.
The incident occurred Thursday, and Tennessee released Elliott on Tuesday after reviewing the incident. The defensive tackle reportedly went to his car to retrieve the firearm after a dispute with offensive lineman J.C. Latham.
Multiple reports have indicated that defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers intervened, talking Elliott down to prevent the incident from escalating any further. It is still not clear what led to the incident.

The Titans have not confirmed the report, only noting that Elliott was released.
“On Thursday, Oct. 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the team said in a statement. “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”
Elliott has not publicly commented on the matter. His NFLPA-listed representation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Titans did not allow Elliott to suit up for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, which was Tennessee’s first win of the season.
Tennessee signed the 28-year-old to a two-year, $8 million contract this offseason. He spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns before a two-season stint with the San Francisco 49ers.
Elliott has posted 159 tackles in his career, including 11 prior to his release this season.
The NFL has not publicly commented on the situation. The league’s franchises began implementing enhanced security measures at their practice facilities after a shooting that appeared to target NFL headquarters in August 2025.
Team facilities now feature metal detectors, security screenings and armed guards.
