The Montgomery County Police Department said Thursday that it is looking for a suspect accused of shooting at four people in Bethesda.
Officers responded to the 6600 block of Rockledge Drive in Bethesda at about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of shots being fired. No injuries were reported, and shell casings were found at the scene, police said.
The police initially detained four people in connection with the shooting, three minors and an adult, but ultimately determined that they were the targets of the shooting and released them without charges.

The suspect in the case has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-411-8477 or to go to the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website.
The shooting took place near multiple Montgomery County Public Schools facilities, which entered their “secure” status in the immediate aftermath. Secure status involves bringing staff and students indoors, locking all external doors and continuing school activities.
The secure status was implemented at Walter Johnson High School, North Bethesda Middle School, Tilden Middle School, Ashburton Elementary School, Luxmanor Elementary School, Wyngate Elementary School and the Rock Terrace School, a special education facility. The status was lifted once officials determined there was no longer a possible threat to school safety.
