Former Alaskan governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced the death of her boyfriend, former NHL player and coach Ron Duguay, who died Thursday at 69.

“It’s with a shattered heart, but also deep peace knowing Ron is with Jesus now,” Ms. Palin wrote on an Instagram Story post. “He fought so hard. Love never ends.”

Mr. Duguay died from colon cancer, which spread to his appendix and gallbladder, according to People magazine.
