The U.S. and Israel are planning for possible renewed strikes on Iran after the midterm elections on Nov. 3, according to The New York Times.

The operation would be a short, intense mission that would include strikes on Iran’s missile and drone capabilities, nuclear facilities and energy infrastructure.

President Trump has yet to approve new military strikes against Iran while diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement are ongoing, The Times reported.

The U.S. and Israel reportedly came close to launching an attack earlier this month, but Mr. Trump canceled it at the last minute, according to The Jerusalem Post.

Iranian officials have threatened to respond to renewed strikes by broadening their targets from commercial ships and energy infrastructure to data centers and undersea internet cables, the Israeli outlet reported.
