A cold case involving a 17-year-old girl who died more than 50 years ago is being linked to serial killer Ted Bundy.
Utah officials made the announcement Tuesday during a press conference that Melissa Ann Smith, whose body was discovered by hunters in 1974, was killed by Bundy.
The DNA found on Smith was linked to the murder scene of Laura Ann Aime, another 17-year-old Bundy victim who, in April, was also found to be a victim of the notorious killer.

“This DNA evidence, when considered alongside evidence related to pattern, motive, means and opportunity, establishes that Ted Bundy was responsible for Melissa Ann Smith’s murder,” Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson said Tuesday.
Bundy is believed to have killed between 20 and 100 women in at least seven states. He was executed in Florida in 1989.
