AMC Theatres has revealed the design for its new popcorn bucket for “Dune: Part Three,” a play on the bucket that went viral for “Dune: Part Two” in 2024.
The previous bucket featured a sandworm from the “Dune” movies sticking its mouth out of the top of the vessel, while the new design features two sandworms in the same open-mouth position. The mouth serves as a hole for consumers to reach in and grab the popcorn.
The 2024 design was widely deemed suggestive by the internet, and it became a topic of memes and the subject of a sketch on “Saturday Night Live” that has garnered nearly 3 million views on YouTube.

The original bucket sold for $25 but fetched much higher prices on the secondary market once the theaters ran out of stock.
And AMC is well aware of the bucket’s virality.
“The AMC Sandworm popcorn bucket for ’Dune: Part Two’ became a viral phenomenon, and we knew that ’Dune’ fans would have high expectations for what came next,” said Hank Green, AMC’s senior vice president of food and beverage, in a statement. “From the moment we started planning the ’Dune: Part Three’ collectibles, our goal was to exceed those fan expectations.”
“Dune: Part Three” lands in theaters on Dec. 18, but AMC has not said when the bucket will go on sale.
