White House border czar Tom Homan acknowledged “mistakes” during the immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota this year, but said the justice system is working to hold federal agents accountable.

He also said he has seen no plan to have U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel at voting locations on Tuesday.

Mr. Homan spoke at a press conference in Miami to talk about the fiscal 2026 border numbers and repeatedly defended ICE and Customs and Border Protection personnel against complaints over overzealous enforcement.

“This is what the American people voted for and this is what they’re getting,” he said. “You ought to be thanking the men and women who are wearing that badge and gun.”

He was pressed on the operation in Minnesota, where two Americans were killed while threatening agents and where federal judges have criticized the scope of the effort.

“Mistakes were made. That’s why a couple people have been indicted,” Mr. Homan said.

On the election front, he dismissed the notion that deportation officers will be at the polls.

“I’ve seen no plans — none — that place ICE agents at polling stations,” he said.
