The New York Times article about the Alaska Senate race scandal is nothing more than a feeble attempt at virtual signaling (“Mary Peltola tries to distance herself from Democrat-linked plot to meddle with the Senate ballot,” Web. Oct. 31).

A sizable proportion of Alaska’s voters have already sent in their ballots in the race for the U.S. Senate between the two Dan Sullivans and Mary Peltola. Had the newspaper published the story a week ago — say, Oct. 21, before many voters had filled out their ballots — then the story would have reflected favorably on the Gray Lady.

Instead, the reliability and integrity of the newspaper that was once the standard for news reporting and journalism has been called into question.

The motto of the New York Times has long been “”All the News That’s Fit to Print”. That motto is no longer true due to the present zeitgeist within the paper’s newsroom.
