President Trump has asked his supporters to get out and vote as if his name were on the ballot. That is sound advice.

The outcome of the Nov. 3 elections may hinge on voters’ assessment of the president’s record over the past 20 months. In this regard, his setbacks are temporary, while his successes are more long-term.

Sure, gas prices are temporarily high because of the conflict in Iran. Was it worth it to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of religious fanatics? When the conflict ends, gas prices will come down.

Prices at the supermarket have also increased, as would be expected with higher fuel costs.

Many young Americans have been priced out of the housing market. Yet regulations on new construction were piled on under Presidents Biden and Obama and their Democratic predecessors, not Mr. Trump, the deregulation president.

On the other hand, the border is closed as tight as a drum. Not a single illegal alien has been released into the country in the past 15 months. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 10,000 illegal alien gang members.

A Dept. of Homeland Security website states that more than 1.9 million people who were in the U.S. illegally have self-deported during President Trump’s second term.

Last year, the homicide rate fell to its lowest level in 125 years. In the first half of 2026, violent crime came down another 10%. The president’s efforts to make Washington safe resulted in 17,000 arrests, which helped cut the homicide rate by 50% compared with the Biden years.

As part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the administration delivered the biggest tax season on record, with 97% of filers getting a tax cut.

The president has created nearly 100,000 new construction jobs and 58,000 new manufacturing jobs thus far in 2026. His administration just announced the construction of what will be the biggest steel plant in the United States, in Iowa.

Mr. Trump has also secured more than $11 trillion in new U.S. investments, including $1.4 trillion from the United Arab Emirates, $600 billion from Apple and $340 billion from Amazon.

His reputation as a dealmaker is undiminished. We now have the majority rights to 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s oil reserves.

The recent arrangement with Greenland and Denmark will give us access to the island’s rich mineral deposits, including 36 million metric tons of rare earth minerals.

When voters go to the polls in less than five weeks, they will need to weigh Mr. Trump’s remarkable record of achievements against his temporary setbacks.
