OPINION:
There used to be a time in America when members of Congress passed actual budgets and when politicians actually cared about bringing down debt and spending in line with revenues.
Not so today.
Today’s political realities are that those on Capitol Hill are far more interested in using the budget season for winning concessions, holding opposing parties hostage and achieving fiscal wins that help solidify their own seats of power.

Meanwhile, debt soars — and it won’t be long before America’s economy crumbles because of the soaring debt.
As Mark Meckler, cofounder of Convention of States and Tea Party Patriots, said, Americans have to press their political leaders to do what’s right on the economy, else the nation will fall.
America’s debt is not sustainable, he said.
