Federal prosecutors announced charges against a man they say voted twice in the 2024 election, casting ballots in North Carolina and Alabama.

Forrest Scott Woody, 68, is a registered Republican in Henderson County, North Carolina, where he cast one of the ballots, according to state records.

He also voted in Calhoun County, Alabama, federal prosecutors said.

“Every election is an important opportunity for eligible voters to make their voices heard, and the integrity of the election depends on voters following the law,” said Phillip Williams Jr., the U.S. attorney in northern Alabama.

North Carolina records show Mr. Woody has been a regular and faithful Republican, casting ballots in elections from 1993 through 2024.

That includes at least six Republican primaries during that time.

Mr. Woody voted in person until 2006, then voted early or cast an absentee ballot by mail in North Carolina.
