A Washington Capitals legend will join the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in November.
Retired forward T.J. Oshie leads the class, which was announced Thursday, alongside Amanda Kessel, three-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel, longtime NHL defenseman Ryan Suter and former Capitals trainer Stan Wong.
The group will be officially enshrined at a celebration in Washington on Nov. 30.
“You don’t have to look far in our sport to find someone whose life was touched by one of these five,” said Mike Trimboli, president of USA Hockey. “Their extraordinary contributions will be felt for generations to come, and it is with great pride that we welcome them among the all-time greats of the sport in our country.”
Oshie spent nine seasons with the Capitals, not including the 2024-25 campaign that saw him stuck on long-term injured reserve with a back injury.
The native of Washington state retired in the spring of 2025 with 1,010 career games, 302 goals and 393 assists. He was a key contributor on the Capitals’ squad that lifted the Stanley Cup in 2018.
Wong joined the Capitals in 1986, spending 13 seasons in Washington before moving to the Florida Panthers for three seasons. The Massachusetts native was then hired by U.S. Hockey, where he worked as a head athletic trainer during five Winter Olympics between 2006 and 2022.
Amanda Kessel, who hails from Wisconsin, was a forward on the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Phil Kessel, her brother, won NHL titles with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017 and with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023.
Suter, also from Wisconsin, helped lead Team USA to three gold medals in international tournaments.
