A man is accused by federal prosecutors of selling the hallucinogens psilocybin and DMT, plus ecstasy and weed near the District’s Catholic University of America.
Perry Young is charged with conspiracy to distribute DMT, possession of DMT with the intent to distribute it, distribution of DMT and ecstasy within 1,000 feet of a private college, distribution of ecstasy and possession of ecstasy with the intent to distribute it.
He made his first appearance in court Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said.
Mr. Young is alleged to have operated the website Forest Floor DC, with a listed address along Newton Street NE less than a mile from the university.
The website offered delivery and curbside pickup for marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and DMT, and Mr. Young was involved in some of the deliveries himself, federal prosecutors said.
Undercover officers bought drugs through the website, purportedly receiving their deliveries from Mr. Young and an associate.
Mr. Young is also alleged to have sold ecstasy to an undercover officer on one occasion within 1,000 feet of the university, federal prosecutors said.
Search warrants executed Thursday at Mr. Young’s residence and a storage unit uncovered a Glock 43 handgun with a drum-style magazine, a loaded Glock 43 magazine, other ammo and gun accessories, 18 pounds of marijuana, 74 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, $200,000 in jewelry, $250,000 in cash, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia.
Officers also found 30 pounds of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, federal prosecutors said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not say whether Mr. Young or the Forest Floor DC website was associated with an unlicensed cannabis vendor shut down by the city’s Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration last year.
On Feb. 10, 2025, city drug and alcohol officials padlocked the Forest Floor store along Fifth Street NW and seized nearly 10 pounds of marijuana, over 10 pounds worth of THC cartridges, 41 grams of THC edibles, over 5 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and over 2 pounds of mushroom edibles, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration said in a release at the time.
