Bobb’e Thompson, who appeared on “That’s So Raven” and “30 Rock” as a child actor, is going to prison for 30 months for possessing a gun as a felon.
Thompson, 30, was sentenced Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa after pleading guilty on April 28 to the gun charge, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa said in a release.
Law enforcement in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, arrested Thompson on Sept. 22, 2025, after he drove 104 mph in a 70 mph zone. Officers approaching the vehicle noticed him switching seats with a passenger. The police also smelled marijuana, federal prosecutors said.
During a search of the car, the police found a backpack containing dispensary-bought weed and a .40-caliber handgun with a fully loaded 15-round magazine and another round in the chamber, federal prosecutors said.
The gun had been reported stolen in Kansas City, Missouri, 300 miles south of Cerro Gordo County.
Thompson’s prior criminal history includes 2020 convictions for battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with force, plus a 2022 conviction for prohibited possession of a firearm, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
In addition to his 30-month prison sentence, Thompson will have to serve three years of supervised release. He remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until his transportation to a federal prison can be arranged.
