Tucker Carlson wants nothing to do with Mike Rogers, the GOP Senate candidate, in the Michigan race against Abdul El-Sayed.
While interviewing podcaster Saagar Enjeti on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” the conservative commentator said he would not vote for Mr. Rogers “at gunpoint.”
“No one should be farther from a position of power than Mike Rogers,” Mr. Carlson said on his show, published Wednesday, adding that he believes the former congressman is “basically a tool of Israel and the intel agencies.”
While Mr. El-Sayed began as a “full-blown leftist,” he endured an “ideological evolution,” Mr. Enjeti said, suggesting that the Democrat is mirroring President Trump’s America First branding.
“When he talks about Israel, he says Israel is committing a genocide, but ultimately, I want to make sure that you don’t pay more for healthcare, I don’t want your tax dollars going abroad to fund this barbaric military,” Mr. Enjeti said. “He stands in front of a giant American flag. It’s almost Trumpian.”
Mr. Carlson countered: “Well, it is literally Trumpian.”
Both predicted that the former public health official will probably beat Mr. Rogers in November.
Mr. Carlson’s anti-Rogers stance comes on the heels of Vice President J.D. Vance — whom Mr. Carlson calls a friend — campaigning with the Trump-backed GOP candidate.
